Add basic shapes to your designs: circles, squares and free forms on transparent backgrounds to build text beds and divide a post into sections.
Start designingWhat is a plain shape actually for?
It is a bed for text, not decoration: a circle behind a number turns it into a badge, a rectangle behind a line turns it into a heading. Basic shapes build the page's structure before any ornament goes on top.
What can you design with them?
Beds and backgrounds for text
Badges, numbers and bullets
Dividing a post into sections
Simple frames around photos
Building blocks for templates
How do you pick the right shape for text?
Follow the text's length: a circle for a number or word, a rounded rectangle for a line, a free form for a paragraph. Forcing a full line into a circle shrinks the type and wastes space above and below it.
