What is a QR code?

A QR code (Quick Response) is a visual code you scan with a phone camera to open a link, show text or trigger an action. QR codes are used widely on business cards, digital menus, advertising and payment apps.

Where QR codes are used in design

💼

Business cards

Add a QR code for your site or your LinkedIn profile.

🍽️

Restaurant menus

A digital menu the customer reaches by scanning the code.

📣

Print advertising

Send the reader to the right page from any printed ad.

What is the error correction level?

The higher the error correction level, the more damage or poor printing a QR code can survive, at the cost of becoming denser. Use level M for general use, and level H if you are printing onto materials or placing a logo over the code.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code generator completely free?
Yes, the tool is entirely free. There is no sign up and nothing to install, just enter the text or link and download the code.
What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is a raster image suited to digital use and social media. SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size, which makes it right for signage and large print.
Can I change the QR code color?
Yes. You can set the code color and the background color freely. Keep enough contrast between the two so cameras can still read it easily.
How much data can a QR code hold?
The maximum depends on the data type and the error correction level. For Latin text it is around 4,000 characters, and an ordinary link is nowhere near that limit.
Which error correction level should I use?
Use level M for general on screen use. Choose level H if you are printing the code onto materials or placing your logo over it.
Can I use the QR code in Andalusi designs?
Absolutely. Download the code as a PNG and add it to your business cards, posters or invitations directly inside the Andalusi app.
